At Aero Auto Repair, we sell all of the used parts and pieces you need to build your first car or rework one you already own. Whether you need a battery, door, headlight, or everything in between, we can help you save a little money on your big project. This can be a very long and difficult process, so it is important that you take note of a few car-building tips and techniques before you get started. Here is what you should know:
Avoid Rust
Buying a used part that has any sign of rust is never a good idea, no matter the price. A rusted part will typically end up being more trouble than its worth. Instead, find a part in a junkyard or used part shop that looks to be in good shape.
Buy Decent Tools
New car projects can be expensive, but don’t skimp out on your set of tools. Having good-quality tools will make all the difference when it comes to the speed and efficiency of your project. The last thing you want is to have an important tool break when you’re just about finished with the car.
Label EVERYTHING
When you take apart a car, or buy a bunch of miscellaneous parts to build a new car, be sure to sort and label everything. If you forget to do this it will be almost impossible to figure out not only what everything is, but also where it is supposed to go.
Research, Research, Research
If this is your first car-building project, you aren’t going to know everything about each part and where it goes. Be sure to research what to do and how to do it before getting started. Cars are complex machines and everything needs to be hooked up correctly in order for them to work properly.
